How Much Does a Review Management API Cost?

A review management API usually costs a per-location monthly fee, a usage fee for each data pull, AI reply or review request, or a mix of both. At Shout About Us, pricing is $0.50 to $3.00 per location per month plus usage, with single-API setups such as review data only starting at the low end, around $0.50 per location. Your real cost depends on how many locations you serve, which review sites you track, how often you refresh data and which APIs you turn on.

This guide is for product and engineering leaders at marketplaces, SaaS platforms, franchisors and white-label resellers. It covers the common pricing models, what pushes the bill up or down, what building it yourself involves, and how Shout About Us prices its APIs.

The five pricing models you will see

Review APIs are priced in a few common ways. Many vendors combine two or more of them.

1. Per location, per month

You pay a flat fee for each business location connected to the API. This fits platforms well, because your own customers are usually billed per location or per account. It makes cost easy to forecast and easy to pass on.

2. Usage-based

You pay for what you use: data pulls, AI-drafted responses, responses posted, review requests sent or removal requests filed. Usage pricing keeps quiet locations cheap and scales with the busy ones.

3. Per review or per request

Some data providers charge per API call or per batch of reviews returned. This is common for raw review data. For example, as of October 2026, DataForSEO's Google Reviews API page lists $75 per 1 million reviews on its standard queue and $150 per 1 million on its priority queue. Raw data pricing like this covers collection only. Matching reviews to locations, responding and requesting reviews are separate work.

4. Tiered plans

Tiers bundle features and support levels, such as a developer tier for testing, a launch tier with white-label options, and an enterprise tier with an SLA. Higher tiers usually cost more per month but add features such as more data fields, more support or a contractual SLA. When you compare tiers, check which features your product actually needs at launch.

5. Custom enterprise quotes

Large rollouts and unusual use cases are often quoted one by one. Some review management vendors that sell to brands do not publish prices. For example, as of October 2026, Birdeye's pricing page asks for your company and number of locations instead of listing dollar amounts.

What drives the cost

Whatever the model, the same handful of factors set the bill.

  • Number of locations. This is the biggest driver. Per-location rates often go down as you add locations. At Shout About Us, the access fee drops as your location count grows.
  • Review sites per location. Tracking Google alone costs less than tracking Google, Yelp, Facebook and two industry sites. Each extra site means more data pulls.
  • Refresh frequency. Pulling reviews once a month is far cheaper than pulling them several times a day. Match freshness to the job. A monthly report needs less than an alert that tells a manager about a new 1-star review.
  • Which APIs you use. Reading reviews is one cost. AI-drafted replies, posting replies back to the review site, insight reports and removal requests are often billed separately. At Shout About Us, each is billed by use.
  • Response posting. Posting a reply needs the business owner's permission on each site, plus handling for failures and edits. Expect it to be priced per reply or included in an allowance.
  • SMS and email volume. Each text message or email review request is a unit of usage, and volume adds up fast for high-transaction businesses. Plans often include an allowance per location. At Shout About Us, requests past the allowance are either stopped or billed at an overage rate, depending on the plan.
  • Support and contract terms. White-label dashboards, SSO, an implementation team and an uptime SLA usually sit on higher tiers.

A quick way to estimate data volume

If a vendor prices per request, count data pulls. At Shout About Us, one request is one pull from one site for one location. If you track 5 sites per location and pull daily, that is about 150 requests per location per month (5 sites x 30 days). For per-review pricing, estimate how many reviews each location gets per month instead. Multiply by your location count and you have a usage figure you can compare across vendors.

What it costs to build it yourself

Some teams compare a vendor quote with building direct integrations. The license fees can look small. The real cost is engineering time and upkeep.

  • Access is not always open or free. As of October 2026, Google says on its Business Profile APIs pricing page that the API is available to registered users at no charge. Its Business Profile APIs FAQ adds that the APIs are not open to the public: you must request access, requests are reviewed within 14 days, and each business has to grant you access (through OAuth or by adding you as a manager) before you can manage its profile and reviews. Every other site has its own rules, or no API at all.
  • One integration per site. Each source has its own authentication, data shape, limits and terms. Covering the long tail of industry sites is where in-house projects slow down.
  • Location matching. You need to find and store the right profile URL for every location on every site, and fix it when it changes.
  • Normalization. Ratings, dates, reviewer names and responses come back in different formats. Your product needs one shape.
  • Write actions. Posting replies, sending compliant review requests and filing removal requests each add permission flows, error handling and policy work. We cover the request rules in our guide to review solicitation compliance for platforms.
  • Ongoing maintenance. Sites change their pages, APIs and policies. Someone on your team owns that work after launch, indefinitely.

Before you estimate the build, scope it properly. Before You Build Review Integrations walks through the five decisions that set the scope: sources, actions, freshness, failure handling and ownership.

How Shout About Us prices its review management API

Shout About Us is the review management API for marketplaces and platforms. Our pricing is public on the pricing page. Your monthly bill has two parts.

  1. API access fee: $0.50 to $3.00 per location per month. It covers infrastructure, security and support to keep each location connected. The per-location rate goes down as you add locations.
  2. Usage. You pay only for the APIs you turn on, billed per unit, such as per review data request, AI response, response posted or removal request. Your rates are included in your quote.

A few more details buyers ask about:

  • Plans: Developer (for proof-of-concept builds), Launch (adds a white-label dashboard, SSO, an implementation team and Slack support) and Enterprise (adds a 99.9% uptime SLA, a managed services team and volume-based discounts, with custom pricing).
  • APIs: every plan includes Review Data (Google, Yelp, Facebook and 80+ sites), Review Insights, Review Response, Review Solicitation and Review Removal. Verified Reviews is available to approved partners.
  • Single-API setups: if you only want review data or only response posting, you can use one API. These start at the lower end of the range, from $0.50 per location per month, and are priced to the sites you need, how often you pull data and your volume.
  • Free trial: 14 days, with trial credits to test the API and white-label dashboards. No credit card is required.
  • Contract and billing: contracts start with an annual term. Billing is monthly, based on the previous month's usage.
  • Custom use cases: large rollouts and use cases that don't fit a per-location model are quoted individually.

For platforms: how to budget at scale

If you serve hundreds or thousands of locations, a few habits keep review costs predictable.

  • Start with one API. Most Shout About Us partners start with one API, such as review data, and add more as their review product grows. With Shout About Us, all APIs share the same authentication and location model, so adding one later does not mean rebuilding the integration.
  • Set refresh by plan tier. Give your premium customers more frequent pulls and your entry tier a slower schedule. Your cost then tracks your revenue.
  • Track only the sites that matter. Each extra site adds data pulls, so track the ones your customers care about. Check the supported review sites and pick by vertical.
  • Price your own product per location. If your vendor bills per location, your customers can too. That keeps your margin clear as you grow.
  • Watch usage alerts. Shout About Us sends usage threshold webhooks before a plan's allowance runs out, so you can act before requests stop or overage starts.

FAQ

How much does a review management API cost per location?

It varies by vendor and volume. Shout About Us charges $0.50 to $3.00 per location per month plus usage. Single-API setups, such as review data only, start around $0.50 per location.

Does Shout About Us publish its pricing?

Yes. The access fee range, plans and billing terms are on the pricing page. Usage rates depend on the APIs you turn on and are included in your quote.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Every Shout About Us plan includes a free 14-day trial with trial credits. No credit card is required.

What counts as a review data request?

One request is one data pull from one review site for one location. Tracking 5 sites per location with daily pulls is about 150 requests per location per month.

Is it cheaper to build review integrations in-house?

License fees can look lower, but each site needs its own integration, access approval, location matching and upkeep. For most platforms that need several sites and write actions such as replies, the engineering and maintenance time can outweigh the license savings.
